How to Cancel Discord Nitro (US) — Desktop, Apple & Google Play

Discord Nitro and Nitro Basic are recurring subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you normally keep Nitro features until the end of the period you already paid for. The #1 mistake is canceling in the wrong place—especially when Apple or Google holds the subscription.

Step 1 — Find who is billing you

1. Open your bank or card statement and find the Discord / Apple / Google charge line.
2. If the merchant looks like Apple or Google Play, cancel in that store (steps below).
3. If Discord billed you directly, cancel inside Discord on desktop or the browser (or the mobile Discord flow if you bought there).

Step 2 — Cancel Nitro on desktop or browser

Use this if you subscribed through Discord on a computer or in a browser.

1. Open Discord on desktop or in a browser and sign in.
2. Click the cogwheel next to your username to open User Settings.
3. Open Subscriptions (under Billing Settings).
4. In the Nitro or Nitro Basic banner, click Cancel.
5. Follow the prompts until cancellation is confirmed.
6. Confirm the screen shows an end date (not “renews on…”).

Step 3 — Cancel Nitro bought through Apple (iPhone / iPad)

If Nitro was purchased with your Apple ID, Discord Support generally cannot cancel or refund it for you.

2. Or on the web: account.apple.com subscriptions.
3. Select Discord / Nitro.

If you purchased through Discord on mobile (not the store), Discord documents a mobile cancel path:

1. Tap your avatar → cogwheel (User Settings).
2. Under Billing Settings, open Manage Nitro.
3. Cancel Nitro or Nitro Basic and confirm on-screen.

If Manage Nitro sends you to Apple/Google, finish cancel there.

If you cannot log in but are still charged

• Apple billing: cancel/refund with Apple (Discord cannot manage iOS subs).
• Discord/Google billing: Discord says you can contact Billing Support from the email tied to the account via their billing form (dis.gd/billing) and ask to cancel.
• Include username, email, approximate charge dates, and statement screenshots.

Refunds after a renewal

Discord’s refund rules are limited and change; check Discord’s current refund policy in Help Center. App Store and Google Play refunds go through Apple/Google, not Discord chat. Nitro vs Nitro Basic vs Server Boosts

Nitro and Nitro Basic are account subscriptions. Server Boosts are separate recurring charges tied to a server. Canceling Nitro does not automatically cancel Boosts, and canceling Boosts does not cancel Nitro. Check both under Discord billing settings and under Apple/Google if that is where they renew.

If you were gifted Nitro, you may not have a cancel control—the gifter’s payment method owns the sub. If you bought Nitro with a gift card balance inside Discord, still confirm whether a card is attached for renewals.

When to re-check

After canceling, open Subscriptions again in 24 hours and before the old renewal date. Confirm the end date did not flip back to “renews.” If Discord rolls out a UI change, use the official Help article linked above rather than random YouTube overlays that ask you to download “cancel tools.”
